Open Call
Performance of students at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava

OPEN CALL is a state of incurable loneliness to which every human being is condemned. Just like friendship, it has no spiritual meaning. Rejecting friendship is not only reasonable, but necessary. The only possible spiritual development lies in depth. There is no communication because there are no means of communication. And even if there is a rare occasion when a word and a gesture happen to be a true expression of our personality, its meaning never penetrates the other person, because it disappears in the waterfall of his personality. Either we speak and act for ourselves - in this case speech and action are rendered meaningless by reason that is not ours - or we speak and act for the sake of others - in this case we speak lies and act falsely.
"A person lies throughout his long human life, especially to those who love him and above all to the stranger whose scorn would hurt us the most - himself." Marcel Proust
